Instability,social disintegration and rapid economic collapse in Zimbabwe in the last decades have decimated all sectors of the country.This is evident in high unemployment rates,drug and substance abuse,increase in crime levels and breakdown of key social and economic services/sectors including education,health,water provision,agriculture and industry. Poverty levels among the rural and urban poor,have therefore been more evident. Of particular concern is the fact that children and the youths have been the most affected .Children have been forced out of school,denied medical care and continue to suffer abuse ( violence against children,rape of minors and other forms of child rights abuse.This situation has been worsened by the unrelenting challange if HIV/AIDS pandemic.The vulnerability of children in Zimbabwe has taken various forms.In some cases ,children have been forced into the streets to become ‘Street -kids/street urchins ‘ as they lose a roof over their heads.In most instenceschildrenhave been forced into child labour or have been forced into caring for People living with AIDS(PLWAs)or have become the heads of house holds after losing both parents.As an example ,the Chorela outbreak greatly affected children as there were no safeguards to ensure that they survived the epidemic which claimed more than 4000 lives.
